Safety is a top priority for Swire. Swire has achieved operational safety through developing a comprehensive safety monitoring approach with the primary goal as zero accidents and injuries, which has been accepted by the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department. The Airline Safety Review Committee guides the management of safety in Cathay Pacific and is supported by Safety Action Groups representing air, engineering, cabin and ground safety
HAECO, one of the world’s leading independent aircraft engineering and maintenance group, serves million of passengers indirectly with major services like airframe manufacturing, engine services and line services to ensure the aircraft is of a good functional state for a safe journey
In 2010, Cathay Pacific was one of the first airlines to successfully complete its IATA Enhanced International Operational Safety Audit (IOSA), the global standard for safety measures; the total accident rate for IOSA carriers between 2011 and 2015 was 3.3 times lower than the rate for non-IOSA operators. Cathay Pacific remained as one of the top three safest airlines rated by JACDEC safety ratings for five consecutive years.

STAFF TRAINING
​
All flight attendants undergo comprehensive safety training which covers aircraft safety procedures, operation of emergency equipment such as fire fighting, oxygen bottles and first aid knowledge and skills like cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) with automated external defibrillators (AEDs) culminating in a stringent assessment to ensure a trainee’s competency. Constant assessment and training like experiential learning through role plays, hands on practice and simulation practicals build skill and competence before serving customers in flight.
