"Seeing the Swire brand far away from home makes me feel proud to be a Hong Konger"

Ray is a university student studying in London. When he sees the Cathay Pacific livery at Heathrow airport, or enjoys his delicious congee on a flight halfway around the world, he gets a warm homely feeling, and feels proud to be a Hong Konger. Embodying the spirit of Hong Kong, Swire’s aviation division has not only enabled many students like Ray to experience cultures around the world and pursue their future, but has also been paramount in establishing Hong Kong as a global city

CUISINE

Cathay Pacific Airways have featured a variety of its “Cathay Pacific-Signature Dishes” on flights since 2010, trying to bring Hong Kong passengers a true taste of home as they enjoy classic local dishes that are truly authentic in taste and appearance like congee, noodle soup, hot pot rice and Chinese desserts.  There are eleven types of home-style congee that were served for the first time in First and Business Class in 2010, including braised preserved vegetable pork rib congee, shredded chicken with bean curd skin congee and dried bonito and peanut congee.

LOUNGE DESIGN

Cathay Pacific has open lounges worldwide, a place aims to bring a home-feeling to customers.  Each piece of furniture has been carefully selected to offer a homely feel and superior comfort.  The simplicity and detailed design of chairs, charging devices and adjustment of lighting creates familiarity, practicality and comfort.  An example will be the opening of Taipei lounge in Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport in 2015.  The lounge is marked by understated elegance with soothing neutral tones and natural materials such as cherry wood and limestone.  As described by the airline and plenty reviews from customers, “the overall feeling of the lounge is more like a living room than an airline lounge.”

GLOBAL PRESENCE

Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon serves 182 destinations and 44 countries or territories.  In 2015, Cathay Pacific Group carried approximately 34,000,000 passengers, and the number of passengers rose by 0.8% in 2016.  The airline helps create experience of different cultures for millions of people annually.
